Written in Breath Sunday, March 24

Anthony Mordechai Tzvi Russell

Sunday, March 24, 4:00 – 5:30pm

at Congregation Shalom, 87 Richardson Road, North Chelmsford, MA

Yiddish Song presents yet another vibrant, relevant body of Jewish texts with which to engage, celebrate and–of course–argue about the continuities of Jewish spiritual and cultural life.

In Written in Breath, Anthony Mordechai Tzvi Russell leads a lively discussion where classic Jewish texts (Tehilim, Nevi’im, and Talmud) are compared and contrasted with Yiddish texts from songs that are performed as part of the presentation.

Written in Breath has been presented in Jewish educational spaces and festivals both nationally and internationally, including synagogues and Limmud festivals across the United States and Europe.
Eight years after making his professional operatic debut in a Philip Glass world premiere, Anthony Russell is now a vocalist, composer and arranger specializing in Yiddish art and folk song, chazones and Chasidic nigunim.
