There’s a Dinosaur Knocking at Our Door!

On November 21, we held our monthly Tot Shabbat and it was DINO-MITE! As the sanctuary filled up with people of all ages, there was a “dinosaur knocking at the door … and he came to have Shabbat with us!” The crowd (and Rabbi Perry) went wild when Daniel the dinosaur, a life-size dinosaur, joined Rabbi Perry and Ari on the bima for some gigantic fun. Preschool and Kindergarten students in our school helped to light the Shabbat candles. Ari played wonderful Tot Shabbat dinosaur music and Rabbi Perry and her own dinosaur friend, Dinah, led a spirited and “roar-some” service.
Children and families were dressed in dinosaur clothing. Students from our school were decked out in dinosaur hats they made in class. Many friends brought their own stuffed and plastic dinosaurs to the service. One young friend wore his winter dinosaur hat and coat through the whole service! There were dinosaurs here, dinosaurs there, dinosaurs enjoying Shabbat everywhere!
Following the dinosaur service, everyone gathered together for a fun oneg, complete with challah, crafts and dinosaur cupcakes! After a fun and “t-rex-cellent” service and oneg, we are sure that our youngest participants went home for a really solid dino-snore!
Stay tuned for another thematic Tot Experience coming your way in the new calendar year.
