Sue Horowitz
Sue Horowitz is thrilled to be joining Congregation Shalom on a regular basis this year!! She a Jewish singer-songwriter from the rocky coast of Maine by way of NY. Her tunes range from lyrical to bluesy, from meditative to joyous. Sue has three original Jewish CDs, that have been produced by talents such as Josh Nelson, Dan Nichols, and Grammy-nominated Nashville producers. Sue also has a new singer-songwriter CD that was recorded in Boston. She has been a musical guest at conferences such as URJ Biennial, Boston Limmud, CAJE, Remembering Debbie, WCN, as well as at congregations throughout the US. Her music has been included in the URJ Ruach series, the CCAR’s Hagaddah, Shalshelet, and the Hebrew in Harmony Curriculum, to name a few. Sue has served as director of education, NFTY advisor, congregational songleader, URJ camp faculty, artist-in -residence and teacher. In the secular world, she worked for many years as a speech-language pathologist and special educator. Consistently earing rave reviews, her warm engaging presence and spiritual music captivate worshippers and audiences of all ages.
Sue has a tzedakah project, a compilation CD entitled Hope and Healing, that has raised over $13,000 for Ronald McDonald House and ACS Hope Lodge, in honor of her son Jacob who is recovering from cancer.
