The Preschool program at Congregation Shalom is open to children ages three and four years old (unless five years old and not eligible for Kindergarten in their particular town.). Families do not have to be members of Congregation Shalom in order to enroll their children.
The Preschool program is designed as a 2 year looping program. The first year the focus of the preschool classes is to provide the students with an introduction to Jewish holidays, symbols, traditions, and values through brief discussions, books, crafts, and/or foods. The second year our Preschoolers will focus on the Bible and will learn about some of the wonderful and exciting Bible stories that enrich our Jewish traditon. Each class is a fun hands-on interactive class with stories, music, art projects and snack time as well
Preschool runs from September through May. Classes meet two Sundays per month from 8:30am – 10:15am and it is a child only class. Parents generally drop their child off, stay a few minutes to settle their child (if needed) and come back at 10:15am (or a little before). Three times during the year, we offer a parent learning component at the same time as the class so that parents can learn about parenting preschoolers through a Jewish Lens.
