Security Training and New Signage

November 2022   Keeping Connected

Hi Friends,

Hope you are enjoying the fall season.  This month, I want to bring to your attention two important items.

First, we are continuing to highlight security training.  We are very lucky to have a member certified as an ALICE trainer and willing to devote the time to train our members (Thanks Tim!).  If you have not taken the 2-hour ALICE training, I highly recommend you sign up for the training on November 6.

I guarantee you will find this training interesting, informative, and relevant.  It is interactive and designed to reflect potential real-life scenarios that we could sadly be faced with.  It is so important that as many of us as possible go through this training.  On that note, we just received word from the state of MA that our award for the $21,000 security grant will be processed within the next few weeks.  As mentioned previously, these monies will be put toward hardening of the exterior of our building with bollards, boulders, and granite benches.  We promise it will be appealing to the eye also.

Second, as many of you have heard, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved signage in the front of our building to represent that we are a welcoming community and congregation.  The signage is being designed now but will consist of a rainbow symbol and words/symbols of inclusion.  It will likely be connected to the current Congregation Shalom sign at the head of the driveway.  Again, a promise that this will also be appealing.

I just saw a Facebook post about our Shalomites Thanksgiving pie fundraiser again this year!!  If you did not buy a pie last year, I recommend you consider it this year.  They were amazing!!

Enjoy the month!
