High School

Chai School – Grades 8 – 10

Chai School is a fun and exciting way to keep our post Bar and Bat Mitzvah engaged in Jewish learning while spending time with their peers. Our curriculum offers both Core and Elective Courses. The 8th Graders take a semester-length course which explores issues regarding relationships and personal respect using a Jewish Lens to delve into challenging ethical and moral dilemmas facing our teens today. They also take a semester course in Comparative Religion. Our 9th Graders engage in an in-depth study of the Holocaust and our 10th Graders grapple with the concept of God as they prepare for their Confirmation Ceremony. Our elective classes change each semester and offer students varied fun and exciting learning experiences. Chai School meets for 8 sessions in the Fall and 8 sessions in the Spring from 6:15pm – 8:15pm.

Post Confirmation

Post Confirmation allows our students the opportunity to meet and study with the Rabbi in a more informal setting.  Students will explore the relationship between current events and the Jewish idea of Tikkun Olam or Social Justice. These conversations give each student a chance to share their personal feelings and insights into issues that are important to them.  We also talk about going onto college and other issues that are important to young people.  We offer two trips that alternate every two years. The first is a trip to Washington DC where they connect with hundreds of other Jewish teens from around the country.  The students learn about the political process and how they as Jews can have a voice in regards to public policy. The second is a trip to New York. The post-confirmation class meets once a month on the second Tuesday of each month from 7pm-8:30pm.
